Exclamation problem hormones!

I'm new to the forum but need some help. I started Atkins 5 weeks ago before then I was on Micronor BCP where my periods stopped. Within a week I had a period and almost two weeks later I have had another one which is really heavy and doesn't appear to be stopping (I am now in my second week). I have stopped taking Micronor but am getting concerned. I have lost 16lbs since starting Atkins on 20 February and am finding it really easy (surprisingly for me) and I don't want to stop. Any suggestions - I am due to see my GP within the next two weeks.

It is very usual to experience either extra periods or skipping a period when starting LC. Breakthrough bleeding if you are on a BCP is also usual. You should consider using another form of BC because the hormone changes may make the pill less effective. Insulin is a master hormone so changing over to glucagon (another master hormone) is going to affect all the other hormones.

Do check with your Dr. (who may or may not support LCing) Things usually settle down by the second or third cycle. The extra heavy bleeding may be coming from the stopping of the Micronor. But wait until you see your Dr. before restarting.

thank you I will. I don't know if I can last another 3 months with this though. I can't lead a "normal" life with having to go to the bathroom every hour!
