Default Anyone find DHEA and melatonin of use? r/o

I do take thyroid meds (I'm hypo) but was finding I just had so little energy in the afternoon. And I know I'm a little low in estrogen (have been a lot time, not meno related) and my doc notes that my DHEA levels are low normal. I also found out from a saliva test that as I suspected, my cortisol's super low in the a.m. (out of range) which means no energy - but super high at night (out of range)... all this means I'm a night person basically.

I've started taking melatonin at night... even a small dose kind of left me a little draggy in the a.m. So I added a modest dose of DHEA in the a.m. ... I'm a couple weeks into this and the net result is a lot more energy during the day and I'm fine to sleep at night.

No results in weight yet, but this is a start - at least getting my body back onto a good track.

I too found melatonin to leave me dragging in the morning so I switched to 5-htp. Still makes me fall asleep nice. I think it has melatonin in it. Not sure though. How much DHEA do you take? I would like to try it but I'm a little scared

The DHEA seems to directly counter the draggy effect from the melatonin and I actually feel good all day. I take 25mg DHEA and 1-2mg (dissolved under tongue for the most part) melatonin. But I don't get any hepped up effect from the DHEA or anything.. more like 'all systems on and functioning, thank you.'

In theory I think some people w/thyroid issues are advised not to take melatonin because that can suppress thyroid. However, I believe DHEA helps to support it among many other things. DHEA so far feels like its replacing something that's been *missing*.
