Unhappy Thinking about giving up

Hi

I'm new, I have been doing low carb since March and have only lost five pounds. I have not cheated except for the occasional glass of white wine I exercise six times a week and only drink water. Any suggestions.

Hi Siobhan,

I hope you don't give up. I believe low carb is by far the healthiest way to eat.

It is unfortunate that low carb gets advertised as being a quick loss programme. I believe it is far better to think of it as a permanent way of eating. Will you care in 10 years time if it took you a few months longer in 2003 to lose your excess pounds than you had hoped? Statistics show that the more slowly you lose weight, the more likely you are to keep it off.

The other thing that has to be mentioned is that you only have a relatively small amount to lose, and that's why it seems to be taking longer. Seems? For us low carbers, weight loss tends to happen by percentages. Most of us can expect to lose 10% of the weight we wish to lose during Induction, followed by 5% a month after that. You've already lost 38% of the weight you wish to lose, so if you look at it that way, you can see you are really doing very well.

I hope you're feeling better about things soon.

Rosebud

Dont quit. Does this WOE give you more energy, than the high carb diet you had before? Do you feel better over all else? If you answer yes to these questions, that should tell you that this WOE is working like it should. And you have lost a high percentage of weight. Stick to it, youll be happy you did. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!
