Default I have a question about coughing???

Ok I am walking alot more than usual lately but when I get going I can not quit coughing and I am not out of breath by no means. I just don't understand where the coughing fits in...Does anyone else suffer from this...and it seems that I sweat more than normal too???????

Yes, that happens to me, too.
I've only been outside walking 3 times now, but it happens each time.
I thought it was all the trees, grass and outdoor things blooming.
I have a lot of allergies to stuff like oak trees, grass, molds, ragweed, cottonwoods, etc.

It could also be that our throats get dried out more from all the extra breathing involved. Maybe the dryness irritates the throat and brings on a coughin spell.

I'm going to try bringing a bottle of water with me next time and see if that makes a difference.
You might try this as well.

Sounds like your lungs are expanding more than normal, alowing more air to go in and out... thats probably whats happening, they are not used to it.

But nonetheless, please call your doctor, you can't be to careful yah know !!

By the way, congrats on the walking more

Hugs

As you know, I walk nearly 3 miles everyday (unless it's raining!)...

...and I have also been coughing and clearing much more lately. But I attribute it to seasonal allergies. I have not needed my usual prescription medicines this year, which I attribute to healthy living, but I think it's fairly normal to experience this while so much of the world is in bloom.

Default While it could be just allergies...

I just wanted to agree with Leenie that you should check with your doctor. My daughter has what is called exercise-induced asthma & seasonal gunk in the air makes it worse. She has been able to avoid medication by just resting for 10-15 minutes when the coughing starts.

Default Do you live in a large city???

Be aware that if you live in a large city to watch for the Air Quality Index. If it is high then you run the risk of exposing your lungs to pollutants in the air. This seems to be brought on more during the warmer summer months.

Also as humidity rises so does ozone levels. This can be bothersome to those who suffer from bronchial problems.

Set your exercise times to early morning or evening when the humidity won't be at the highest. Also, try carrying a water bottle to help hydrate during your walks.

Also as others have discussed allergens are high.

Be sure you are getting your breath. Coughing is a body defense mechanism to moving air into and out of the lungs. Pace yourself to where you aren't huffing and puffing. Work up to a fast pace gradually. Your lungs will thank you.

Be blessed.
