Rice Bubbles!!.......well nearly
Just bought a product called ‘Protein Crunch’ made by ‘Ladybird’ which is a company based in Queensland. To quote their website they are “crisp puffed bubbles of soy protein isolate” and look and feel just like rice bubbles. The taste is fairly benign but it doesn’t taste like soy. Not sure what I’m going to do with it yet as I don’t want to have it as cereal because of the milk factor…..I’m thinking chocolate crackles maybe?? They suggest using it as a snack on its own, as a crumble topping on fruit, mixed through yoghurt or added to cakes, biscuits and muffins etc. to boost the protein content. Personally I’m only interested in the crunch factor.
The carb values are 2.8g carbs per serve (1/2 cup) or 9.4g carbs per 100g.
A 350g tub cost me $21.20 which makes it a bit costly to use as an everyday breakfast cereal.
Their website is www.lady-bird.net and they sell lots of other high protein products as well.
