Unhappy milk substitute

I miss milk so much.

Has anyone got a milk substutue that is low carb?

I like soy, but even that has alot of carbs and I just
crave it.

Also I found a very good low carb bread that I can live with.
It has 3 carbs per slice, and 2 grams fiber. Do I count that as
3 or 1 carb? I have been counting it as 3 to play it safe.

Any crunchy cereals out there that would be less than 5 per
serving? I enjoy cereal, but its been out for awhile now.
Any sugestions are appreceated.

If you miss milk, have a small glass of whole or extra rich milk. High in protein and carbs with some fat. At least it's balanced. 1/2 cup will have about 4 grams of carbs in it.

I occassionally miss milk also. That's what I do. I buy a pint of whole milk and it lasts a week because I dole it out slowly.

Hope this helps.

Low Carb Milk - recipe by Carol of this board

“Milk” can be made if you take a quart of half-n-half
Mix it with equal parts of cold water plus an extra 1/4 cup (use a good bottled water)
Add a teaspoon of Splenda (it takes the place of the lactose)
Mix well and chill overnight.
It will stay fresh for 3–5 days

If you liked your milk "skim" before going low carb, you may want to add more water.
If you liked "whole" milk, try making it with 1/2 table or whipping cream and 1/2 half-n-half. The mix as I make it appoximates 2% milk.

So, how many carbs are we talking about? Well, it depends on how you make it. If you make it according to these primary directions and have a 6–8 oz glass, it will run you 4 to 5.5 carbs.
If you make it with half cream you can get the carbs down to about 3 grams per glass. Ditto for making it in the "skim" version.
