Question Articles on Carb Addiction?

Hello All,
I am taking a Substance Abuse class (for grad psychology) and have decided to do my final paper on carb addiction. I've found a few articles on the web that address this from a very medical/technical point of view. I want to write my paper on some of the parallels between carb addiction and other addictions (like drugs, alcohol, etc.) and how biology, psychology, and social influences contribute to carb addiction. Most of the articles I have found talk more about the phsiological effects of carbs but I think there's so much more to it than that.

Any suggestions on some good articles that could help me?

Thanks,
Tam

I immediately thought of the Drs. Heller, who have some research on their website:

http://www.carbohydrateaddicts.com/neworigin.html

This has some references to the origin of the name and pathways for research.
I think this is a fascinating topic.

You might also want to check out the book Potatoes, Not Prozac about the carb addiction relation with other substance addictions.

It might be worth noting that Overeaters Anonymous at one time endorsed low carbing as a method of abstinence. I'm not sure why, but this plan, known as "The Grey Sheet", split into a second 12-step program simply called "GreySheeters Anonymous".

This article which was reported in a thread on here earlier might be of interest as well, although the focus here is a little different as the link between nutrition and addictive behaviors:
