Default Question (antifungal cream and tabs)

I have recently start taking antifungal tabs for a condition I have on my two big toes from walking. And most likely from poor fitting shoes (garbage now) and to much moisture. The good doc says that I'll need these tabs to clear it up. Has anyone experience any slowdowns or side affects from it (Lamisil) its the only med I have taken in years. I thought about letting nature take its course and see what happens but I think the one nail is going to fall off, so intervention was necessary.

I had a toe nail that thickened and my soc wouldn't give me a prescription because he was worried about liver damage. So, I soaked it in a bleach/detergent/water solution and the new nail grew in clear.

black57:

What percentages of bleach, detergent, and water did you use? How long did you soak and how often? What kind of detergent?

I took Lamisil for almost 3 months. I had to go in for blood tests to see if my liver was ok. Then it hit me. Why would I risk my liver for some ugly toes? I cut out the meds and went to an over the counder cream. I lost one toe nail in this process but its back now and everything looks and feels just fine. I just had to stay away from open toed shoes for a while!

To answer your questions I was on Lamisil when I was loosing weight. I never thought about it much. I know that I stopped Lamisil and quit taking the depo shot at about the same time and my progress did not speed up or slow down.

Anway just what happed to me.

I took Lamisil for 4 months but was not dieting at the time, but I didn't experience any weight changes or liver problems from it. The Lamisil was very expensive and my Ins. at the time considered it "cosmetic" so wouldn't cover it. My Dr. finally got them to pay for 2 months of it pecause I kept getting infections under the corners of the nails

Since then (5 years), I had 1 nail turn thick again and fall off. I used Melaluca oil (Austrailia Tea Tree) on it and it and it has grown in healthy. A nurse practioner told me a couple of weeks ago that Vicks Vapor Rub works too.
