Smile Vacation to Mexico....suggestions on what to eat?

Hi all!
This is my 5th week doing Atkins and I've lost 13 pounds and dropped 2 dress sizes! I'm also exercizing about 4-5 days per week and feeling great!

However, I am going to Mexico for my brother's wedding next weekend.....should I be ok if I mainly just eat the meat and veggies and forget the tortillas/chips, etc?

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

All you can do is avoid all the carbs you can. You should always be able to find lots of fish/seafood dishes on the menu and for breakfast there is usually a good variety of eggs dishes. Just ask for no beans or sauce. Chicken is another good bet.

You'll be able to order your food there just like here. I was able to. The only big problem is WATER there. I do not remember why, but we were told not to drink it. You'll have to buy many bottles for your intake. Don't wworry about it though and have a wonderful time! You'll do fine! *hugs* Wen

PS~ Bring me back a nice Christian hot Mexican! hahahahaha

I just returned from a long trip into several states in Mexico. The only real difficulty was getting enough water in me each day. As to the foods, if I couldn't communicate clearly, I just pushed the rice or whatever to the side. There was plenty of wonderful fish and chicken and squash to eat. You can do it!

What part?

If you're on either coast, ceviche!!!! Chicharrones are great, tacos pastor (sans tortilla of course), juevos rancheros, alehambra (bacon, peppers, onions, beef, cheese, etc), grilled fish, barbacoa, carne guisada, nopales...

If you're on or near the coast, it'll be really easy.

In the interior, just pay attention. Rice, beans and tortillas are in most everything, but just ask "Sin juevos y arroz por favor." But mexican street food is awesome. And there is mineral water and Coca Light available almost everywhere.

Have a blast!

I love Mexico! In addition to what others have said - don't eat the lettuce or vegetables and fruits that have not been peeled. They are rinsed in the water, and speaking as someone who has suffered Montezuma's Revenge, be careful! Watch out for icecubes too! Orchid
