Default 4 pounds in 3 days.

Started the Atkins program on Monday. Not having any scales, I was just guessing my weight to be 350. Bought a good set of scales on Tuesday and my weight was 342. Just weighed today (Friday) and scales show 338. Is this typical to lose some this soon? I don't have any desire to cheat, nor am I craving anything I'm not suppose to eat. My biggest worry is I'll just grab something not paying attention and eat it. I've always been a big sandwich eater, and sometimes I get hungry and think of a ham sandwich or something, and then realize, "Oh, I can't have that!"

Its absolutely normal to to lose 4lbs in 3days. I lost 9 in the first week. They say that you will lose an estimate of approximately 10% of the total amount of weight you want to lose. In your case if you have 100lbs you want to lose then the average weight that you will lose in the first 2 weeks will be 10lbs. That is not set in stone as some people will lose more some will lose less. It sounds like you are doing great though!! keep up the hard work. If you still want that ham sandwich have it but toss the bread. Good luck to you and you can do it!!!!!

Hi! I lost 7 lbs in my first 3 days (not sure if I've lost anything since...I'm now on day 6). It's awesome, isn't it? And I'm like you...no cravings, not much of an appetite most of the time. And I also am afraid of accidentally eating something I'm not suppose to. I have 2 young children and I don't know how many times in this past week I've almost put something in my mouth...like a piece of fruit or a muffin! It's not that I want it, just such a habit. Goes to show how much food I use to take in just by finishing my kids leftovers.

Good luck!

I can't tell you by the day, but I dropped 15 pounds in my first week of Induction. Generally, the bigger you are, the more dramatic the initial weight loss. Atkins indicates that a fair amount of the initial weight loss is water weight, as the Induction foods have a bit of a diuretic effect. I figure that doesn't really matter...water or fat, it was unwanted weight that is gone now and, hopefully, gone forever.

Congratulations on a great start. Believe it or not, it actually gets easier after the 1st two weeks.

Heh - I completely understand that "worrying" feeling where you think you're going to "accidentally" eat something high in carbs; just wait until you start having nightmares about eating loaves of bread! Hee! It happened to me, and I woke up terrified!

Seriously, good luck to you; it sounds as though you are right on track, Virginian. This site is the source of lots of wisdom when/if you have questions, so welcome aboard!

Hey, thanks for the replies, everyone! Carissanbro,
I took 2 of my nephews fishing Thursday; bought myself some cheese and sausage to snack on, and got them a pack of chocolate chip cookies. I don't really have a desire for them, but I found myself going for the Chips Ahoy without thinking! So far I have not eaten anything I'm not suppose to. It really doesn't even bother me when others are eating food I can't. I sure do hope I don't start dreaming like Peckish! Geo and Lucy, great to hear your good fortune starting out. Well, lets keep on track and before you know it we'll all be super models! Thanks again!
