HI!!!! Just started the Atkins diet yesterday. My husband and I are doing it together. I've cut out caffeine and surprisingly today ..with NO caffeine...I feel more clear and level headed. I can't believe the difference in how I feel already!

3 questions...

The Atkins diet states that you can eat "liberal" amounts of eggs in the first two weeks...do you count the eggs in you daily 20 carbs?

Are there any diet drinks out there that are acceptable on this plans w/o the aspartame??

Do you have to cut out alcohol completely in the first two weeks (this comes from my hubby who really wants to have a low carb beer with
dinner)

Hi and welcome,
On the beer thing, if your husband REALLY wants one and him not having one is forcing him off this WOE then let him have the odd one, his results won't be as good but it's better he have a little beer and stay on it than no beer, come off the plan and then eat and drink like he used to.
Good luck, Hev.

Yes, definately count the carbs from the eggs. As for the alcohol, the body will burn off the alcohol before anything else so the weight loss will slow down considerably when you are imbibing.

Dear sunseeker!

If your husband absolutely has to have a beer, make sure it's a low carb one - Michelob Ultra (2.6g). I don't know if there's any other low carb beer on the market.
Good luck and welcome!
Emma
