Default SSRI's?

Looking for your opinions...
I have tried everything to work this out with out the use of SSRI's. I exercise, eat the Atkins way, tried all sorts of ideas from the health food store but still have a wicked time with mood swings, and compulsive behaviors - (nail biting and eating!) I have used these in the past and really liked the way I felt but thought because it was a drug I did not like being dependent on it. Also, I run and weight train and I don't want to lose my desire for that. Any thoughts?
I appreciate your help!
P.S - can't remember if these take me out of ketosis?

I have taken SSRI's for 4 years with my most recent being Lexapro. I have had no problem losing weight and would not consider going off of them at anytime without my Dr's approval...

I take Paxil- and still think I definitely need to- last week (also was beginning PMS) I forgot to take it for a couple of days and I was a bit of a mess- compulsively eating, very depressed etc.

It hasn't affected my weight loss I don't think- I lost 18 lbs during induction and 6.5 lbs in the 3 weeks since.

I don't like being on it either, but I feel I need to be.

Paxil is what ruined my metabolism but it also saved my life! So I am grateful that I took it. I have Agoraphobia / without panic. Used to be with panic until Paxil. If any of you have had a panic attack. Imagine doing that 10 times a day for no reason. It's hell!

Don't feel bad for being on it. I felt the same way when I started taking it. In fact I was pill phobic for years refused to take anything for my condition. But use this analogy... Diabetics take insulin right? When you get sick you take antibiotics right? Well, we need SSRI's to help with chemical imbalances. It's no different.

Smile My 2 cents worth...

I take one antidepressant, two mood stabilizers and one anti psychotic and have lost 50 pds since March 1st. I think everyone is individual, it's hard to say whether or not it may make a difference. But I do agreee with one of the posters, never quit taking them without a doctors O.K.
