I just read a post where the writer stated that he has a low-carb margarita.

Can anybody tell me how to make a low carb margarita? I have all but written off one of my favorite drinks and would love to know if I could incorporate one in my WOE.

I love margaritas too...would love to find a low carb recipe. Supposedly, Don Pablos has one. Haven't tried it yet though.

Not sure about any recipies that may be out there. But there is a mix you can purchase, has 1g of Carb for 4oz glass. It's called Baja Bob's crazy caribe. It cost $8.55 canadian (so American can knock 30% off that price for exchange rate).Below is a Canadian website you can order from, but as most of our products come from the US, I am sure you can find it down there. Personally I found the Baja Bob's to be nasty, I have tried them all and they taste very Splenda-ish and artificial.

I should have stated that I have never tried the drink, so no idea what the taste is like.

I saw an article in the Atlanta paper today--Don pablo's (TexMex) has added a low-carb Margarita. I believe it's in the sub-2 ecc range.

That leaves room for my favorite--steak fajitas (no tortilla, of course) with veggies, sour cream, cheese, and pico!

This is on p. 87 of "500 Low Carb Recipe Cookbook" by Dana Carpender.
Excellent margarita mix!!!
1 1/2 C lime juice, fresh or bottled
1/2 C lemon juice, fresh or bottled
1 1/2 C splenda
2 C water
1/2 tsp orange extract

mix everything together, or use blender for 1 minute.
*I shake everything together in a clean large jar. I also make 1/2 the recipe at a time.

Yield: Whole recipe makes about 1 qt. Whole recipe has 54 gram of carb, so figure about 10 grams for each 6 oz serving of mix.

I personally have had the Baha Bob's Margarita mixes... Wild Strawberry, Keywest Lime, and Original...
I found all of them at Netrition.com for about $5.50 for a Liter bottle...

I think they are excellent... and didn't taste too sweet to me... Angel66668... which ones did you try??

they also have a LC mixer for Pinacoladas... alittle higher in carbs than the margarita mixers ... but probably really good as well...

I will try that next...

I agree that margaritas made this way are tastier than the ones using the mix. But do be aware that triple sec has 11 g. carbs per ounce. That's 5.5 per 1/2 oz, plus a couple from the lime juice. Figure 7 or 8 per margarita.

I think this tastes much better than margaritas made with mix.
