Default LC FOODS and EATERIES - what's in your town?

I live about 2 hours from Las Vegas. I was visiting there & was able to convince my diabetic friend who weighs about 300 lbs and her friend who is thin but falls asleep after every meal (uh-oh) to do Atkins. They started today
I'm really happy about this because my friend has high blood pressure and a wound at the bottom of her foot and just avoiding the sugars will help her heal (sugars slow down healing).

Anyhoo, she knew of a LOW CARB CAFE'. Can you believe it? This place was a store and cafe all in one. Even better than that was that they had 4 locations in the Vegas area and also have a total of 10 stores (the other 6, not having cafe's in them). They make (or have them made) low carb bagels and bread that is simply, OUT OF THIS WORLD GUYS!!! I love bagels and could not believe that a full size, tasty bagel only had 2.5 grams of carbs (holy moly!) They are LOADED with fiber so it helps me stay regular too!

Here is their web address for ordering because I know the sliced bread and the bagels taste great (we think the pizza is great too but didn't get a chance to try it). www.deepdiscountnutrition.com

We had several of their ice cream shakes at the cafe' over several days and some of their ice cream also - all of it was TERRIFIC and they even put REAL WHIPPED CREAM on top of the shakes (0 carbs). I was in heaven!!! They said they intend to package the ice cream and shakes soon for *take out* purchasing to keep at home. My friend is lucky to be there near the shops but I had to come home

I was *SHOCKED* that Scottsdale AZ didn't appear to have anything like this when I went searching for it on the web. I'll be down in Scottsdale for several days and with someone else who is doing Atkins and going to that kind of cafe or restaurant is FUN FUN FUN

What do you have in your neck of the woods?

You ARE doing great Kelly That is the hard part - convincing our local food stores and health food stores to carry this stuff.

This company (Kristen's Lo Carb Cafe' and Better Nutrition) have been doing the Lo Carb thing for 10 years (bless their heart!!!!). The goodies their store has is just UNBELIEVABLE!!! Peanut brittle (lo carb), marshmallows (lo carb), all kinds of cool treats. I didn't even mention the cheesecake and other pies they had at the cafe - just enough to make you cry (because you live 2 hours away).

I may think about becoming a distributor for my town and seeing what the interest level is with folx. We have very little in this town and what we do have is Atkins stuff at FULL RETAIL and then some.

Tough the other day I tried some buns from this place. I get them at the local nutrition store that hasa HUGE locarb section and A) the label was very misleading B) I think the carb count was wrong C) this bread creates KILLER cravings both for me and hubbie and we aren't the craving type and the other low carb breads not do this

There are 2 stores in my area, one near work. The great thing is they do sandwiches and shakes too. Sometimes it's great to be able to go there for lunch as an alternative to fast food drive thru.

If you live in the Triad (Greensboro, Winston-Salem, HighPoint) North Carolina my saving grace is LowCarb Nexus in High Point off of Eastchester. They have just about EVERYTHING and they have a TRY IT OUT table. So you can sample before you buy. AND they have soft serve ice cream! The bonus is that there prices are lower than most.

I have only been on Atkins for 10 weeks so I haven't been able to find that many low carb friendly places. There is one store called the Low Carb Mall. I haven't been in the Scottsdale location but the 2 I have been in have ice cream and sandwiches. Here is their web site:
http://www.lowcarbmall.com/

Also in AZ Hi Health has a lot of low carb stuff at good prices.
