Default Could I be putting myself at risk?

Just wondering. I read the Protein Power book and I liked what was said about cutting carbs out. I just decided to cut all my carb intake, I am not following the book when it comes down to their program. I am eating things I like but if I have a burger, I don't eat the bun, same with pizza, I just take the toppings. So is this dangerous in any way? I feel good, I am not eating as much and I don't really crave carbs. It has been two weeks so far, I am very active with sports and I have energy like as if I was 16 again. I am also taking vitamins and drinking tons of water. Please let me know..

Thanks

Sherriff

Sherrif, I dont think you're going to hurt yourself, as long as you're keeping those carbs low enough. If you've read all of Protein power then you know WHY LCing works; it only works in the absence of carbs. Cutting down on sugar and grains is obviously good for you. Have you thought that maybe another program would be more suited to your lifestyle? We have a section of the forum called "Low Carb Comparison" plans where many of the options for LCing are explained and reveiwed. Something Like Somerizing or the Schwarzbein Principle may appeal to you more.

Hi, thanks for the reply. The reason I am not following the plan exactly like it says in the book is because I did not really want to get into weighting myself, measuring body fat and filling out all the charts that they suggest in the Protein Power book. I guess you could say I am too lazy but I really just want to change my eating so that I am not filling my body with crap. The weight loss will be nice but I am not really out of shape or very overweight. I am sure that if I continue to cut carbs, stay active and I am already eating less, the access weight will drop off by itself. I am very busy(work, planning a wedding) and I can see myself losing interest if I am trying to follow recipes etc. I just want to be aware of what I can and cannot eat on a daily basis and try to alter my eating to fall into the foods that are going to help me rather than sit and turn to fat. If I sound lazy I guess it seems like that but I really think that if I put too much time into this plan and worry about it all the time, I may lose interest.

What do you think??

Sherriff

I think that if it works for you then that's great. My mom did PP last year very seriously, she needed to. My dad went along for the ride, he's always been lean and healthy, by eating like she did but less stringently (he was averaging about 100g of carbs a day) he lost 10 lbs and never felt better. My boyfriend is now following a much less strict version of PP after losing 23 lbs and is feeling so much better he's been off his meds for over a month (He suffers from Crohn's and LCing has changed his life).

Good luck to you,
Nat

Hint - as far as I can see you only need to do that measuring once to figure out how much protein is your minimum requirement. I wasn't going to at first, but it was worth it in the end, cuz it confirmed that my ideal weight range is what I had targetted, so the goal is realistic.

And as far as lazy goes...*giggling* well join the club. I've found a lazy approach to meal planning and prep that works for me right now. It's well worth it not to be lazy in the reading department. Exercise your mind and read the great resources at this site. Understanding how your body works may help keep you motivated.

Good luck!!!

Default Hi sherriff

I'm sabrina and I just wanted to say hello. How much have you lost in your 2 weeks of LCing? I to have a tendancy to be lazy at times but I'm working on it. You are going to be just fine and very successful at this. So hang in there. Sabrina

Hi Sabrina, to be honest I have not even looked at a scale yet. I am happy so far by how I feel and that I am finally in control of my eating. I will post my new weight as soon as I step on a scale.

Thanks

Sherriff
