Question Getting It To All Fit!?

Soon I am going to be combining cardio, weight training, and pilates.

If I do the cardo when I 1st wake in the morning (6 AM) can I weightlift in the evening (like 7 PM) one or two days a week without much damage? I am just going to find it hard to give up my cardio 5x a week...

I am just wondering if the long amount of time between each "helps" or should I still avoid cardio and lifting on the same day.

Thanks,
~Michelle

Default You can do it:-)

I am not a fitness expert, but have long time experience fitting in "everything". I start my day always with morning run OR with the wonderful WAP video:-) Then I have weight training (3x/week) or swimming (4x/week). Every evening I have some core exercise (yoga, pilate or exercise ball). I have not seen any damage, though I am not in my 20s. (I am 46.)
I do not do anything because I have to do, I do because I enjoy all these. This is not a strict schedule, I travel a lot, it means frequent easy/rest days.
As I mentioned I am not an expert, but I am sure, if you listen to your body, you can do/fit many things.
Take care, and congratulation for your program:-))

Hi Michelle,

Initially, I had the same questions. The last month or so, I've adopted a routine similar to yours. I do a 30 - 35 min run in the morning on an empty stomach, then weights every other day late in the afternoon.

For me, I've found cardio and weights on the same day to be perfectly fine. I haven't noticed any adverse effects yet, nor has my trainer.

I agree with Galadriel, you can pretty much make anything fit. Congrats on your new workout regimen, and good luck! I'm sure you'll do very well.

Regards,

Frederick

Thank you Galadriell and Frederick. I guess unless I hear otherwise, I will do what I planned. Can't wait for that BFL book to arrive!
