My best carb blocker is keeping my mouth closed when presented with high carb stuff! LOL

Seriously, I don't have any direct experience using carb blocker pills. I don't believe in using any kind of "diet pills."

I have some that I've used twice, mine are phase II and they only block starch. Used them once before a pizza and beer night, and another time over the weekend at a trivia night, only ended up having a few beers and some pretzels. Both times I was in ketosis the next morning and didn't gain any weight. Did the work? I guess so, seems like I would have at least been kicked out of ketosis. I'll use them again for outings where I want to be able to enjoy certain things, but I wouldn't want to use them on a regular basis.
Oh and I didn't notice any side effects other than a little gas but that could have been from the beer.

Two weeks ago I did an experiment on these in molecular biology lab. I simulated human digestionfrom the mouth to the small intestine. I used all the digestive enzymes involved, and replicated the acidic stomach and alkaline SI. I had a control group to compair the experimental (carb blockers) group. After simulated digestion was complete, I tested both groups for the presence of sugars and for the presence of starches.

results:

Control(no blocker)
Positive for sugar
Negative for starch

Experimental (with Blockers)
Negative for sugar
Positive for starch

As to the quantity that they can absorb, that needs to be tested. Do I use them? No. Would I ever? Maybe, but I would NOT make it a habbit. Making consistant good choices are my claim to good health, not a magic bullet.
