heading to a bar is a tough one...as the selection of mixers is probably just not there. The other weekend I had a bit of a crazy weekend...but it was at home, and I drank vodka with crystal light to mix. I dont recommend the beer...carbs galore I imagine. Most of the straight alcohols (as you mentioned vodka, gin, rye) are all zero in carbs, it is the mixers that will do it to ya. If you like club soda mixed with anything, then you are set!
It will surely knock you out of ketosis (the alcohol) but it did not take me long to get back in)....I have been doing it for a bit longer though.........

I had beer last Sunday night. It has made me hold water and my weight is still not where it should be today (Wednesday). If you do drink alcohol, have a very low carb or zero carb day the next day. Sometimes enjoying life is more important than a bit of retained water!

Robert.

Any straight alcohol, such as gin, vodka, rum, whiskey,
etc, has no carbs. What happens, however, is that your
body will burn the alcohol before it goes back to burning
fat. I'm willing to have that delay in order to maintain my
social life !

When I first went out, I tried bringing in diet tonic water
(Schweppes) to the bar and then asking for gin on the
rocks. This will work fine as long as the bartender doesn't
see the tonic, because most restaurants/bars won't allow
it, I guess. At least that's what they told me.

But you can use any diet soda, (although the artificial
sweeteners stall some people) or drink martinis ,
but let me warn you, when you've been LCing, alcohol
tends to hit you pretty hard, , so be careful!

Also, if you've got the carb count to spare, Micholob Ultra
has 2.7 carbs. Miller Lite has 3.2, I think. So you could
have a couple of those if you want.

Have fun !

Jill
