Hi my name is Susan. I am 40 years old, 243 lbs and new to low carbing. I have been heavy all my life, at age 18 I was 200 lbs and I have had a gastric staple procedure in my 20's that didn't work well for me. I have kept a log for the past week and I can't believe the amount of carbs I consume!!!

I started the Carbohydrate Addicts Diet 3 days ago and have already lost 2 lbs but I have to say today I feel so rotten ...is this normal when you start low carbing? I am thinking that getting my body away from all the coke and sugar is causing it... can someone please reassure me? I guess I have a lot of reading and learning to do now to help me change my lifestlye. I am so glad I found this site, I have been reading the forums and you seem like a great bunch of people.

Hi Susan,

Welcome to the forum and lowcarb! You're going to find all the support and encouragement you want here. Got questions? Just ask...most likely someone has had the same experience. Before you know it, you'll be the one helping others. Just in case you have doubts (I did in the beginning), this does work!

You probably haven't noticed "Hot Links" yet in the newbies section. It's a list of former questions asked by people that we've all found helpful. You'll find it here
http://forum.lowcarber.org/showthre...&threadid=28939 I don't know about feeling bad (guess I was lucky), but maybe you'll find some answers in Hot Links.

Have you registered at Fitday? http://www.fitday.com It's very helpful in keeping track of everything--you'd be surprised how the carbs can creep up when you're trying to do it all "in your head".

Good luck!

judy

Yes, it is not uncommon to feel lousy the first two-three days. Your body needs time to adjust. Stick with it and you won't be sorry.
