Angry Stuck?

Well I'm sort of a newbie still I think. However, I am stuck. I finally figured out Fitday & after having entered all todays food info & exercise I am truly ashamed & baffled. According to fitday, I consumed 51g of fat, 35g of carbs & 15g of fibre & a whopping 81g of protein. (I'm sure that's probably way too much protein) 1) Am I supposed to subtract the fibre myself afterwards or while I'm entering the items? & 2) how do I go about getting that Protein count down. I see now why I've stopped turning my ketostix at all. Any advice wud be most appreciated. Cheers sugrbuster

MORE FAT!!! Try adding things like olive oil when cooking meats or to your salads ... use things like blue cheese in salads or blue cheese dressing, and use guacamole or 1/2 an avocado. Remember to throw some butter on things too! The fat will add up quickly and it will help you burn fat and lose that weight too.

Fitday doesn't subtract the fiber ... so you subtract it after fitday gives you the numbers. I just put the fiber number in my journal on fitday.

Congratulations on your weight loss so far

Hi sugrbuster,

I strongly recommend you pick up a copy of "Atkins New Diet Revolution" - "Atkins For Life" is meant for people who are in maintenance. It doesn't explain the nature of this WOE (way of eating).

This is a high fat, adequate protein, low carb plan. 51 g of fat is insufficient - most people on this forum will get at least 100. Your protein is about right, not "whopping." If anything, it's low. Do not reduce it. The carbs are correct - you subtract the fiber, so 35-15 = 20 g of net carbs.

At these levels, you're eating less than 1000 calories a day, which will send your metabolism through the floor. Your ketosticks probably aren't changing because your body is *using* the ketones you're producing, not excreting them in your urine. Ketosticks only measure the *wasted* ketones that are over and above what your body uses.

Hang in there!

Hi Kristine & Lori: Thanx for your prompt ans. I can't imagine how to get more fat into my diet it seems . I already have both those books & remember reading to my DH that if you consume too much protein it will convert to Glycogen. BTY where do you live in S.On. I hail from Pickering Cheers Sugrbuster
