Default New Atkins book

Can someone tell me if new information concerning food lists and diet tips are in the new edition of Dr. Atkins Diet Revolution?

I am new to this program and I am using the blue book. I don't want to purchase the new book unless necessary. I would appreciate any tips and comments from those who have found this program successful.

Thanks and good luck to all on weight loss journeys.

I read on another board that Atkins claims to have rewritten the book for this edition (or maybe somebody else ). I know it includes the latest taubes article and some of the new findings that have been discussed in Media Watch.

You would be just fine with the BLue edition. Just follow the Induction list of foods for the whole 2 weeks. read the whole book carefully - even read it twice - and you'll get most of your questions answered.

Go up to the top of this page & look at the orange bar across the top. One of the headings says "Low Carb Tips". Click on that and you'll find a lot of suggestions. Also go to the "Newbies Questions" forum. The top thread is "Hot Links" which will answer questions you haven't even thought of yet.

Good luck

Default I have the old and the new editions

the main thing I see different is that in the old book, cottage cheese was ok for induction, but in the new book, it's not. As far as the food lists go, that's the only difference I saw.

Maybe it stuck out because I am a great cottage cheese lover and was terribly disappointed.

I browsed through the new red cover edition yesterday, I noticed two things about Induction:
  • Saccharin is now OK (along with sucralose)
  • Veggies are now 1 cup if only 2 cups of salad are eaten
I'm sure there are other changes, but these were the two that stood out.

Default Which Book Is Which?

I have Dr. Atkin's original book, published about 20 years ago. I have the one published 1992 and updated in 1999. Now I hear there's one out in 2001.

Which one are you all discussing?

I have not as yet read his newest, but learned on another thread that in it he restricts cheese to 4 ounces/day. That seems like a big departure from my book!
