Question Suddenly Achy

Have been on Atkins for a couple of months now and have felt pretty good. Now all of a sudden, I have had aches in my legs and arms. Not just one spot. Kind of all over. It's been going on for a couple of weeks. I take supplements that include potassium and magnesium. Is there something I could be missing?

Last night I was given a food item that had sugar in it. Didn't realize it until I had eaten it without thinking. The pain was not as intense this morning as usual. Is there such a reaction to going sugarless?

As a matter of fact, the doctor just upped the dose two weeks ago because a blood test taken just before starting Atkins showed my cholesteral being way too high. Is it possible that the medication is causing the problems? If so, maybe I should contact the doctor and discuss it!

Does he know you are on Atkins? Atkin's, if closely followed, will reduce your cholesterol levels and trigycerides. Talk to your doctor about your muscle aches. Statins can cause irreversible muscle damage in some people. I wouldn't play around with supplements until I knew for sure it wasn't my meds.

I'd call your doctor pronto. There's a very serious muscular side effect of cholesterol medication. I'm surprised they didn't inform you of that.

I put a call in first thing this morning to the doctor's office. Of course, had to leave a message but hope to hear from them very soon. Glad I mentioned this. I had been on low doses and had no reaction. Didn't stop to look at the side effects of a higher dose. Thanks for the input!
