Default Can u check these ingredients?

Just been to the supermarket and had a look
round and got a few things. I think I've done
well, but need your expert advice. I'm trying to
make the Mock Danish recipe.

The cream cheese I got said virtually fat free,
but eh carb count was the lowest they had so I
went for it (4.1g per 100g)

Some Almond Essense, they didnt have
vanilla

Cadbury Cocoa powder (10.5g per 100g)

and while I was there, some organic peanut
butter for future cooking just cos it was 9.9g
per 100g

I couldnt find sugar free maple syrup - do u have to go for the ordinary? Whats the carb count in it I should look for?

Thumbs up Cream Cheese

Hi Jackie

I think that you can get Cream cheese with a slightly lower carb value. My Sainsburys cream cheese - full fat, is 3.1 g carbs per 100g and I think it is 3.5 at Safeway. Do not go for the lower fat versions as usually these have a higher carb value.

Never had maple syrup, so have no knowledge about sugar free versions. I expect that that is something that you will have to order online for a low carb website.

The peanut butter looks good. Thats a bit lower than the one I've got, so well done.

I managed to get 'Whole Earth Original Style peanut Butter' with no added sugar the last time I was in the UK. The carbs are about nine but the fibre is 7 so the effective carbs are very low.

Inspired by your post last night I tried the following experimental receipe:

3 sppons peanut butter
1 spoon cocoa powder
2 sppons butter
1 large sppon powdered sweetener

Mix the whole lot together into a stiff paste, Shape into rough balls and chill in fridge.

Result: A sort of chocolate blob which can be just eaten or used as a chocolate spread. It was absolutly delicicous!

regards,
Robert

Thumbs down No, don't subtract the fibre

Hi Rob

Like your post about the peanut butter. Don't forget that fibre is irrelevant in the UK. So sorry to cause you pain, that peanut butter has 9 g carbs, you can not subtract the fibre. See my sticky at the top of this forum.
