Unhappy Ouch....my tummy.......

I went to Walmart today and bought a few Atkins Endulge Chocolate Crunch. I ate one on the way home and ate another one as I was putting the groceries away. They were so good! Well, it's been a few hours now, and my tummy hurts so bad! I've got gas like you wouldn't believe and I've been to the bathroom at least 4 times already. I'm thinking it's the maltitol from the other posts that I've been reading, but I didn't think it would be this bad! ouch!

Yep, it's the maltitol! If there's a next time, perhaps try small amounts at a time.

I ate some sugar free lollies (candy if you're not Australian ) some years ago and, like you, I really suffered.

I hope you're feeling better soon.

Rosebud

Malitol acts as a laxative with some people. But eating 2 bars so quickly certainly magnified the effect. If you really need that chocolate fix ( I know I do) try a square or 2 a day, and see how that works for you. I'm lucky I haven't had any problems with them, but it seems like a lot of people do. I'm sure you'll feel better tomorrow. Good luck- it's no fun to be sick.

Thank you Rosebud & Amy

I'm still gassy, but my stomach has settled down a bit for now. I still have 2 left, but I don't think I'll touch that! And when I do, I will take Amy's advise and eat a little at a time. Hopefully it won't affect me like this again. When I get my TOM, I just need my chocolates! I wasn't even going to get them until I walked past it and automatically reached for them. Well, lesson learned!

Yep, I have the same problem with the malitol. I bought some Russell Stover pecan delights and I can only eat one or else I suffer.
