Default Nap after dinner

Has anyone that has had the "I need a nap after dinner syndrome" notice it seems to disappear after going on Atkins? The last 3 nights I haven't seemed to bog down after dinner. I sure hope it stays like this. I thought I had the seasonal thing because of the shorter daylight hours, but maybe it was all in what I was eating.

Hi Moon!

Yes, that's very typical once you start low carbing; those energy highs and lows don't happen anymore. It's the rise and subsequent crash of blood sugars following a high carb meal that makes you feel so groggy and tired. When you low carb, your blood sugars (and your energy level) remain stable; no more crashes!

I second what Lisa has said! When my carbs are down - I have no need for a nap and my energy is pretty consistent. Before eating this way I would want a 1-2 hour nap every day on the weekend, sometimes more. Now - Well, I am not the energizer bunny, but I have no need for naps.
