Hi guy's, I've been looking for this support group for some time. Glad I found you. I started Atkins' on March 10, when the scale reached 279 pounds. I bought a new scale...still 279 pounds! My buddy lost 25 pounds on Atkins', so I bought the book and got started. Historically I'm a junk food junkie, eating is a form of recreation, and I never had a meal I didn't finish. I literally cleared the table with my eating habits, then snacked all night long. My food cravings were constant, and if I didn't eat regularly, I got dizzy, or violent shakes. I was tested for blood sugar level, turned out ok, but there's a history of type 2 in the family, and the handwriting is on the wall. With my verocious appetite, cutting down was/is a problem, but cutting out the carbs and substituting with protien was a blessing.
After a few days the urges to eat have succumbed, and while I cheat on salads and veggies, I don't have the desire to eat more than one meal a day. I've lost 20 something, not much the last week, but I had to drop into my next size smaller pants and belt. I can see my shoes now! I love this diet, lot's of meat, salad and steamed vegetables. I can see myself staying on this a long time. I don't even feel like I'm on a diet. I fish a lot, and I thought that would be a problem, but I took a box of steamed shrimp along with a smidge of sauce, and I could only eat half. My next step is to try to eat 3 smaller meals rather than one big one.

Hi and welcome!

Congrats on your progress. Just one comment: we really should eat 3-4 or even 5 smaller meals in order to get rid of cravings and convince our body there's plenty of food around.
Please, check out my links below, hope you'll find something helpful.

Definately should step up the meals. Don't let your body think it is starving - this will mess up your metabolism and ultimately stall your weight loss.
Glad to have you on board!
