Exclamation LOTS OF FOOD! need help

Well I am back on Atkins, its my 2nd day. I forgot how much all the food you eat adds up!!! I was telling my friend all the things i ate yesterday and she said it sounded like alot. As soon as i got to work today i checked on fitday and i was still under my 20g of carbs. But here is my question... how many calories should be the max? and according to the pie thing fitday has, my fat intake is 3/4 then almost 1/4 of protein and the a little balance of carbs. does this sound right???

Calories are not a concern when doing Induction. Its when you get to last 15 or so lbs or so that you must watch. I watch and make sure I stay around 1600 or less. I found this as being the cut off for me due to history (been doing this since 4/02). But carb counts is what is important. Induction you should be around 20 carbs...too little or too much can stop your weight loss or slow you down. Once you hit OWL you can go higher in carbs and add foods (nuts, bars, shakes, etc.) in moderation. I would suggest staying under 2200 calories if you are calorie-sensitive. But the most important is the ration 65/5/30 is about the average (65 being fat/5% carbs/30% protein). Even too much protein can hinder your losses.

You definitely should read the book...too many people "wing it" and wonder why they are not successful.

The book is only $6 from walmert. You really do need to get it. Until then look at the Atkins web site www.atkinscenter.com for the list of acceptable foods and how to follow the induction phase of the plan. Remember too this is not a crash diet, it is a way of relearning about foods and taking the weight off in a slow healthy manner so it stays off.

Default Calories can count

But it depends--are you eating around 10X your goal weight in calories, or WAY more than that? Atkins allowed me to stay stable at a MUCH higher level of intake than I would have been able to maintain on a high carb plan, but I sure didn't lose.

Now I am more able to handle a "normal" serving size (<> 4 sausage patties for breakfast, BTW) and I'm losing. Fancy that.

The ratio I use is 3% carbs, 70% fat, and 27% protein.
