Default Chocolate

Hi: I think I really need chocolate. I feel as if I may be addicted to it. Does anyone else feel this way? I am drinking a cup of coffee instead, even though it may trigger my craving more, this is the only thing that satisfies me until my chocolate craving goes away. Any advice?

Hi Marissa,

Welcome to the forum.

I found that L-Glutamine worked really well to remove my cravings for chocolate. Dr Atkins recommended 500 to 1000mg ½ hour before meals. I found 500mg x 3 times daily removed all cravings.

Cheers.

Rosebud

I sure feel that way. I always did. Most of the times a decaf do the trick for me.
If I am really desperate for chocolate, I may add a small teaspoon of cocoa to it.
I also use cocoa powder in whipped cream, no sweeteners. Quark cheese with cocoa and cinnamon tastes somewhat like uncooked chocolate cake, I am still not sure if I like it.

I have heard that a chocolate craving can be the body's way of craving magnesium. Try taking a magnesium supplement and see if that helps.

It can also be a need for iron. Try having some spinich ot something else. If you are on induction make sure to do a clean induction with no shakes, bars or sweets. Doing this will help to overcome the sweet addictions and cravings.

Later in OWL when you must have a treat, look at all the recipes on here that use unsweetened baking chocolate. That way you can have a small chocolate fix without the guilt of sugar, or the pain of sugar alcohols.

I am not really a chocolate junky, but I do love an occasional glass of Carb Countdown Chocolate Milk. Very good chocolate flavor and 2 carbs per 8 oz.

Diet Swiss Miss may do the trick instead of coffee-or in your coffee!
