Default Sugar alcohols

Hello

Wondering is anyone here can tell me if sugar alcohols are actually carbohyates, and if they elevate a person's blood sugar.

We went to a movie last night and I stopped to buy a Ross chocolate bar. I read the label and realized that they're now changed their packaging to state 10 gms of carbs. Previously they were 2 gms. The only thing I can think of is they are now required to list malitol as a carb...

I'm interested to know if the these sugars mess with blood sugar as I have a problem with low blood sugar and like to keep things even. I had a hemoglobin A1c done last year and it was 5.2, so don't think I have to worry about diabetes, just watching my carbs to lose weight.

Maggie
