Question I'm getting started what about dietary supplements?

I want to know if taking dietary supplements hinder the Atkins diet? Do they defeat the purpose of the successfully completing the diet? Also what about protein drinks? THANKS!

Depends on what you mean by dietary supplements. If you mean vitamins, you probably should at least take a MVI, potassium and calcium. If you're talking about meal replacements, shakes are usually ok if they're LC (I use EASE carb control and love them), but you probably should stay away from the bars....at least until after induction. You might react to them by stalling or gaining.

As for other nutrition supplements, I don't know much about them, but personally, I think if you're eating natural, fresh foods you probably dont' need them unless your doc suggests them.

Good luck!

I do protein shakes every morning, their great. But I do CAD not atkins. I did them while on Atkins too. They didn't hinder my losing process, most shakes are a YMMV on the Atkins shakes.
