Default What situations are triggers?

Hey there,
I just thought it would be interesting to post this question. Since getting back to this WOL in December I have never felt better and one habit I kicked was watching TV at night and eating. Now I just read in the evening (which for some reason doesn't trigger me - maybe because it's tough to snack on Doritos with a book in your hand . However, a friend of my dad's insisted on loaning me a 6 hour long taping of the BBC version of "Pride and Prejudice" (I'm going into a master's program in English in July) and I watched part of it last night and bam! out came the old habit. Luckily, I don't have anything that isn't low-carb in my house but I still ate a bag of Atkins Crunchers and an lc candy bar that I wasn't hungry for.

Needless to say, I am not doing that again!

What are your triggers?

Tam

I don't really have any - I noticed that it is far too easy to succumb to fast food though, just because I get very little time for lunch, and I frequently forget my lunch at home

I used to eat at the movies and before the TV. But years and years ago, when I was on WW, one of our "lessons" was to stop eating at the movies. I carried it further and stopped eating in front of the TV (not counting actual meals, which I still do). For some reason it was easy for me to give up way back then.

Now, my only real trigger is for salty/tart food when TOM is near. I usually turn to cheese and pickles. Yum! Or I put extra salt on my salad and other foods. Before LC, it was chips and guacamole.

TV was for me, but I don't watch it much any longer. Like you said, its hard to eat with a book in your hands! Now when its TV time I get a hot cup of spice tea, add a bit of splenda and I'm pretty happy.

Default I got one!

I am sure there are probably more triggers...but this one comes to mind, because it happened this afternoon.

I have been doing catering since December and soon will be opening a tearoom...and one of the things I am always looking for is new recipes and general food display and such...well today my Mom was going through some of her cookbooks and came across a wonderful book on baking (pastries, bread, cakes, just all kinds of baked goods) I am sure I will put it to good use for great parties...but it drove me up a wall today...I can usually look at cooking magazines and other cookbooks. But this one was just too much for me to handle. (picture for every recipes) I did refuse the temptation...but boy was it rough.

I was like Pavlo's (sp) Dog...and the bell was ringing loudly!

Cheers!
Julie

The worst trigger for me is celebrations. I have to eat when I'm with family, at parties, with friends, out socializing.....if only Low carbing wasn't so complicated in the general public, then everything would be smooth sailing. Then again, I just imagine all the diabetics and people with food allergies, and I think, wow, this place isn't that accomodating.
