I picked 30 mins but it varies some. I do cardio for about 30 minutes three times a week, and I lift weights three times a week. But the weights usually take a little longer than 30 minutes, especially if I take it slow and focus.

I walk 5 miles a day! I wake up before my kids and walk 2.5 miles and then I walk 2.5 more miles in the evening. It really does help get me energized for the day.

I used to run (not jog) for 20-30 mins a day while on the lowfat/lowcalorie nightmare diet syndrome I eventually lost the energy to do it. When I say lost the engery, I mean I would HAVE TO nap instead of run. Talking about falling asleep at my desk at work type energy levels. Bad bad Vydor, not doing that again!

Since switching to Atkins alot of my former energy levels are returning so I am starting to push my self alittle more by parking far away at college, and stores, etc. Might break out the tread mill again, never know!

Since I'm an "oldie", I do the Richard Simmons Sweat videos three times a week. The other days I walk. I was sedentary for so may years, that this is something totally new for me. The inches are coming off, and my stamina is increasing! I amthrilled!! Today I started working with some 2 pound weights too. truthfully, I am enjoying every minute of it!!! And my family is so proud of me! They cant believe I do the whole workout!! All 50 minutes of it!! Not bad for a 57 year old grandmother of 13!!!!

I usually make it to the gym once or twice a week for 30 minutes of weights and 30 of cardio followed by stretching. I also do a Fusion class (pilates and yoga) once a week and run outside once a week (10k). If I miss my outside run, I have an extra day at the gym.

I'm training for a half marathon in October, my second. I'm looking forward to beating my first time (2:30:00). Wish me luck!

Take care, Julie

I lift weights 2-3 times a week and my sessions last no longer than 45 minutes (more time than that counteracts the goals). I walk briskly every morning for about 30 minutes (hall duty at school) and cover between 1 and 1.5 miles, depending on how many student's hall passes I have to check. I randomly will get other exercise depending on my schedule.

I read somewhere that if you exercise for longer than about 60 minutes, your body begins to stress and release cortisol. Corisol is a catabolic (muscle-wasting) chemical, and will actually reduce the muscles you are using to burn fat!

That said, my own workouts often go longer than 1 hr, hahaha.

I do not do any type of formal exercise. I lead an active lifestyle with kids, the farm, horseback riding, building projects etc and absolutely hate any kind of "one-two lift those legs higher!" type of exercise. I have way too may other things to occupy my time.

Definitely over an hour. I walk down to the gym, about 1.5 miles, then do at least one if not three one-hour karate/kickboxing/grappling classes, then walk back home if it's not too late. I do this at least 3 times a week, and also try to get 10,000 steps in every day by walking everywhere. (This is easy in the city!)

First let me say, I don't work outside the home. I lift weights 5 days a week in my basement, often longer than an hour, but that also includes stretching. I'm wanting to add a couple of days of cardio too, but.....that hasn't become a habit yet. Hope you find something you love to do.
