Question Adding Ground Flax Seeds to food

For obvious reasons, I need to add Flax seeds to my diet. I was wondering if anyone had a simple way to just include some ground seeds in some of our food, without compromising the taste of our dishes.
I also would like an opinion as to how much of this would I need to add daily, or weekly to help my body regulate.
At this time, I've been LCing 8 weeks, and find myself going once a week. I need to add fiber to my diet...if you know what I mean.

I might suggest buying a high quality flaxseed oil with lignans (the fiber part) included. If you get this make sure you stir the bottle before each dose because it settles. I take 1tbsp per day (1000 mg). I get one that includes evening primrose and boarage oils (omega 3, 6, 9 - good for weight loss and balancing hormones). I prefer this because I can't rely on myself to make it a habit otherwise. I do love making flaxmeal for brekkie, though. Just not every day.

I have used the meal sprinkled over eggs in the am or over cottage cheese.

I threw in a 1/4 cup in half the muffin mix I made(atkins mix) They were a little heavier then the first batch but good.
I use the 2 tblspn serving rule. That and salad greens work as fiber for me.

Since you're not on induction, you might want to try this hot cereal recipe:

1/4 flax meals (about 3 Tbs)
Tbs ground pumpkin seeds
Tbs soy protein powder
Tbs wheat or oat bran
sprinkle of cinnamon

Mix w/ 3/4 c water and microwave for two minutes or cook like oatmeal. Serve with a pat of butter and light dusting of Splenda. It's very filling and as for the rest -

My stepdaughter is concerned about her weight and was asking me about low carbing. I gave her the above recipe and she looked at me admiringly and said, "Wow, you must be regular!". And she's right.

i buy flax seeds and grind a small amount at a time and sprinkle a tbsp on my daily salad, i like the added flavour and the added fiber works very well.

on tv this morning on a health segment they recommended adding a tsp of ground flax to your coffee not sure about that .

Thanks Jesdorka,

Adding a little flax to my salad might be just what I need. I will try that tomorrow.
I was looking for a simple answer and this might be just simple enough. I've never actually had any flax seeds so wasn't sure about the flavour.

2berners:
Your cereal idea sounds good (if there's anything I miss on this WOE is cereal in the morning), but I was wondering about the flax seeds. You quote "flax meals". That isn't ground up seeds is it?

And bevbme, you mention the "meal" as well. Is this something different than the ground seeds. I've never seen flax meal here in any grocery store in Canada.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

Hi 4scully

Flax meal is ground flax seed. Meal is what you call the powder of any ground seed/nut or grain.

Default Breakfast idea

I enjoy 4 T. flax seed meal with 1/4 cup almonds raw. Add 1 T. sugar free davinci syrup and a little cream or unsweetened soy milk and you have a yummy, fast breakfast. I have been enjoying this all week and after drinking water, I am stuffed, and quite satisfied til lunch. Give it a try.
