new to the board
Hello, I'm new to the board. Not new to low carb eating, although I'm starting over with a different frame of mind this time.
I'm 41, SAHM to three wonderful daughters. They are at home with me because they attend an online charter school. So of course, exercise is rather an issue for me! Next school year they will be attending a local magnet school, and I plan to take up mall walking at that time. In the meantime, it's me and my Wii.
I currently weigh in at 259 and a fraction. I'm about a week into going low carb, loosely following Atkins. I've been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, which shouldn't be a surprise since I was gestationally diabetic in all three pregnancies. In those I followed a GD eating plan, and actually LOST weight in the second two pregnancies. So I know I CAN do this, I really just have to mean it. Healthy baby was a good incentive; healthy Mom seems not to have been.
Other than exercise, the big challenge (and admittedly also a really handy excuse) is my middle daughter's food allergies. I've pretty much resigned myself to cooking two meals most nights; what I'm eating and what everyone else is eating. I'm also absolutely terrible about remembering to take my meds and supplements.
What I've learned this week:
-herbal tea isn't too bad even without all the junk.
-switching to half-caff coffee a couple months back was a really good idea.
-I can go out with a friend if I'm honest about what I need.
-I like sashimi.
-I don't like octopus.
-I am capable of cooking eggs over-hard without burning them.
My name reflects my favorite outdoor activity: geocaching. I plan to incorporate that into this journey by releasing travelbugs at significant milestones. The first one comes next Sunday IF I can stick this for just two weeks.
Off to figure out journals.
