Default Recovery period results...

As many of you know, I had oral surgery a few weeks ago (along with battling the flu) and was having a difficult time with eating low carb. After a few days of soup, soup and more soup, I had decided to take a small vacation from Atkins while I recovered.

What I discovered during this time made me very proud of myself. Although I wasn't eating LC, I still managed eat sensibly. I could have taken this "vacation" and turned it into a big ol' junk food fest, but instead ate healthy and controlled. Three meals a day, no snacks, lots of water. I lowered my fat and calories to make up for the extra carbs that I was consuming and it paid off big time.

Starting this past Monday, I went back to strict induction and in the last two weeks have lost *drumroll!* NINE POUNDS!!

More than the weight loss, I'm excited at the fact that Atkins has taught me good eating habits. It makes me feel like I really CAN keep this weight off for life!

Thanks again to all of you who helped me through this difficult time.

Wow. Your discipline and self-control are a great motivator to the rest of us who can (way too) easily stray from this WOE, for whatever excuse we may have.

Unfortunately, some of us, when we have to deviate from low carb eating, don't reduce fat and calories while doing it. And can that backfire! You set a good example for the rest of us!

Congratulations!

Joan

Thank you guys so much! You make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Joan,

You are correct about easily slipping from this WOE. I don't know what makes some of us able to withstand a stray and some of us to go on an all out binder. If I had the answer, then surely I wouldn't have made it to 249lbs. The only thing that I know for sure is that Dr. Atkins' book taught me far more than I had anticipated and for that I am truely grateful. I've suddenly realized that I can make my goal and take it to my grave (which will most likely come 20 years later now thanks to this WOL). Food no longer controls me. I control it. And that info has been far better than what any scale can ever give me.

My wish for everyone is that they find this for themselves at one point or another. My guess is that if you stick with it long enough, it will find you.

Thank you again, everyone.

A very grateful,
~Angi~
