Unhappy feeling discouraged

today ends the first 2 weeks of eating low carb. I just got back from my dr. weigh in and I only lost 2 lbs. I dont understand it. I have been eating the way they say to and I thought I had lost more by looking in the mirror.

I re read your Journal http://forum.lowcarber.org/showthre...&threadid=21581 from the one food entry i'd say that you were not doing everything by the book. Induction doesnt allow for nuts or low carb bars, yet you did lose 2 lbs. Why not do the two weeks over but this time follow the book to the letter. It does work.

It is very likely you look like you've lost more. You've probably lost quite a few inches. Take your measurements this time around... remember you are losing body fat and gaining lean muscle mass, and while a pound of each is still a pound, muscle takes up 1/3 the volume of fat. The net result is you weigh the same but take up less space

Keep a pair of pants that are too small now as a reference and try them on every few weeks. Also, start using your journal to post your menus, it will help us help you.

Don't get discouraged, a lot of time when you lose fat from your cells they tend to hold on to some water to retain their original shape. Then all of a sudden the water is released and you will drop several pounds overnight.
Did you measure yourself when you started? If you appear to have lost more weight than the scale shows, maybe you have lost inches.
Have you tried putting the foods you are eating into the calculator at www.fitday.com? A lot of things that are marked as 0 carbs on the package contain more like .99 of a gram. They can quickly add up.
Try not to be discouraged, sometimes it just takes time but it does work. It has taken me 6 weeks to lose 7 pounds, my first 2 weeks only resulted in a loss of 3 pounds.

Something else to consider here Trish, from the looks of your profile, you have already lost quite a bit of weight. I don't know how long you have been working at it, or what diet/exercise plan you were already using, but weight loss does slow down over the long run anyway. Congrats on the loss so far, and keep at it! I know it can work for you.
