Default Questionnaire about Atkins Diet (also re: Horizon)

This is a questionnaire from the University of Surrey about people's
views of the Atkins Diet which I saw posted on another site. Some of
it is related to the Horizon programme.

http://www.surrey.ac.uk/SHS/diet-trials/thanks.htm

It's definitely worth filling it in, although it annoys me that the
first few questions are based on the premise that it's just another
diet that you will come off when you have lost weight .... grrr

Well spotted Katy.

The link you gave goes to the end of the questionnaire. Try this one for the start!
The University of Surrey is where Diet Trials was run out of. It will be interesting to see what they do with the results.

Off to fill in the questionnaire.

PS Interesting questionnaire. Also seeks views on last Thursday's Horizon programme. So very upto date. Left a comment at the end to say that after 2.5 years I am still very healthy on this way of life.

Hmm not impressed with that - I filled it in BUT mentioned that 1. its a WOL not a diet, 2. why no mention of exercise, veggies, vitamins, 3. didn't understand the point of the second section after the Doctors statement?

Sorry but doesn't give confidence that it will be not biased because that didn't ask the right questions - more asked the same questions over and over again in slightly different context to catch people out!

I too filled the questionnaire in and made the most of the comments box at the end. It's one of my pet peeves that everyone seems to be asked for their view on low carbing - except the low carbers themselves. Let's make sure the Univ of Surrey researchers know a large number of long term, committed and still healthy (!?!) low carbers exists!

I also thought the 'doctor's statements' bit was weird. I assumed that Dr Matt or whatever his name was was fictitious, and that the researchers were just trying to gauge how easily our views on low carb diet safety could be swayed.

Very interesting, I do hope the material gets back to the Doctor who was so anti the Plan. I had great enjoyment saying that I had no health worries about Atkins. Left a comment that I worried far more about my drinking alcohol than I did about the Plan. I pointed out too that I ate a lot variety of proteins including fish and poultry. Why do people always just zero in on the red meat bit?

I to found the doctors statements interesting. I think the attitude of Dr Wilson is one I have certainly heard before and so there is some grains of truth in the statement it is just put in a very negative way. The reason for the question is to see how you are swayed by the statements. I don't think that the two Drs contradict themselves, just approach it from a negative and positive angle.

Unfortunately any survey can never cover all aspects, otherwise we would be there answering questions all day and people would never fill it in. They put what they feel is important to them, it may not be what we see as being important. Of course, we know the good points about this way of life and are being successful at it.
