Default Pickles

I wasn't sure where to put this because I have yet to understand all the different forums.

But I am on day 4 of induction and I want to know the rule about pickles. I love pickles and I have notice they have no carbs. But I do realize they are loaded with sodium which is bad.

But I wanted to know if they are ok.

You're talking about dill pickles, right? I would count the carbs like you would for cucumber, since that's what they are. And of course you know about the sodium content, which probably will make you retain water.

But as long as that doesn't bother you, I say go for it. Remember, Claussen's are the best!!

What are also yummy are the splenda-sweetened pickles from Mt. Olive. They have bread and butter type and pickle relish.

Olives are a good acceptable choice also-same issues with the sodium tho.

I think this is one of the YMMV issues. Your Mileage May Vary. Some folks lose just fine on a higher sodium diet, but others need to cut back on it to succeed. How many pickles a day are you eating (or wanting to eat)? My Vlasic's have 1g of carb per pickle. And I rarely eat more than 2. But you just have to pay attention to your body. If you feel bloat-y (like your rings get tight) you might wanna cut back. Good luck!

I don't want to eat a ton of pickles. But I do love them and wouldn't mind a couple pickles slices for a snack.

I've eaten a few small pickles on different occasions and not had a problem. Though my body is extremely tolerant to things like sugar alcohols/sweeteners, so it may be just as tolerant to things high in sodium.

I eat big dill pickles once in a while but mostly as a treat. I got a huge jar from costco and it lists 0g carbs for 1/4 of a pickle but fitday lists them as 6g carbs per pickle so I dont have them too often also I run them under cold water before I eat them. Doesnt do much to help the sodium content but psychologically it makes me feel better lol.

I would just say watch the carbs and drink extra water.
