1/2 Marathon... good idea or not?
Hi, all. I am an Atkins newbie, and am nearing the end of induction (woo hoo!). It's been absolutely wonderful so far... my cravings have been well under control, and surprisingly I have a lot more stable energy than I did previously on my sugar-heavy diet. But, I have one concern thinking more long-term about the diet.
I initially chose Atkins as a nutritional compliment to starting training for a half-marathon (it's in September). I've been a runner for years, but the pounds started creeping up recently. I figured that it would be a lot easier to train during the summer at a weight closer to 160 than in even the upper 170's... Hence, the jump-start. Is this diet compatible with endurance training? The book says yes, but I am anxious to hear from anyone else that has combined a lot of exercise with not a lot of carbs.
Thanks!!
