Default Newbie Hi and Help

Hi All,
I made the decision today to finally go for this....there are so many plans and it is so hard to decide which is the right one. I guess I had to ultimately decide to be ready to give up my sweet addiction before any of them would work.
I also realized today that I really function better under structure and am wondering if any of the low-carb plans have a sort of 'kick start' structured plan......say having shakes for 2 meals or something really rigid like that for a few weeks. I know I've seen something like that at the Atkins site but am not sure what it is for.
Any help would be appreciated.
BTW, I am planning on using the Zone but am not really set on that if there is one that would better suit my needs.

Hi there Trisha and welcome to the Forum

You're correct about Atkins, this plan has a two week period at the start called "Induction" in which carbs are severely restricted (less than 20g/day). Protein Power has a similar jump start 2 week period called "Intervention" wherein carbs are limited to less than 30g. You can read about both of them in the section of the Forum that compares and reviews many of the plans available . Most LC plans are not big on Meal Replacements as they do not help you learn a new set of behaviours for healthy and long term eating; however there are such things as protein shakes and bars (be careful with the bars, most of them contain hidden carbs - as many as 20g) which can be used to supplement a LC WOE.
