Default Atkins Bars

Someone refresh my memory, I have an atkins bar that says 2 Net carbs, but it has 21 grams of carb minus 10 grams of fiber that leaves 11 grams of carbs, how do they come up with 2 net carbs.

The rest come from the sugar alcohols, which don't impact blood sugar so therefore can be subtracted from the total carb count to yield the net carbs.

So if a product does not list the sugar alchol and does not list net carbs how do you know to subtract it.

As I recall, the Atkins Advantage bars DO list the sugar alcohols. I would trust the Atkins bars, but not other bars unless you can see the contents listed. Other good ones are the carb-rite diet bars, EAS Carb Control bars, Protein Diet, Carb Solutions and there are many many others.

Default HELP on Bars

I love the Advantage bars but the are very pricy.

Can I get more information on the other bars and How do I figure out the net carbs. LIke on EAS or carb blockers I read they have anywhere between 20 & 30 grams of carbs. HOw do I figure out the net carbs.
What do I look for Fiber ? Sugar?

Well, bars should be avoided becuae for some they cause weight loss stalls, and they are very expensive and highly caloric, but here is how you figure the net carbs:

(Total carbs) - (fiber) - (sugar alcohols) = net carbs

Red face about those bars

Yes, Atkins Advantage are expensive, but i really think that they are worth it! Also, I buy them at GNC during Gold Card Week (the first 7 days of each month) and save a hefty 20%. These bars have bailed me out many times when I need to eat but am not near anything healthy. You can carry them anywhere, eat all or part of one-very convenient!

The Gold Card costs $30 a year, I think. I use supplements from GNC, so when I started Atkins, I just began buying the bars there.

I bought the gold membership the other day when I was buying shakes. I really saved a lot by doing so (about $12.00!). Now I'm holding off and only buying at the beginning of the month now...lol.
