Default funny look at the store

Was standing at the meat/seafood counter today at a local super-market buying some shrimp and salmon, super prices so I couldn't resist the splurge. There was a woman there frying samples of breaded catfish in shortening and a skillet that was too hot. I has simply said "no thank you" but another woman said "it wasn't on her diet". She then proceeded to grab my cart instead of hers, noticed and said something to me about the wrong cart. I laughed and said I would have noticed because the items in her cart weren't on my diet as they had too much sugar.(6 grapefruit and a cantalope). What a wierd look she gave me and I just grinned thinking of the lbs I've lost without living on grapefruit for breakfast.

Jeria, you'll probably start noticing what's in others' carts a lot more now.

It makes us realize how we used so many unrecognized "sugars" for so many years!

I find the best way to educate people on this way of eating (WOE) is just to live it.

Best wishes with your low-carbing!

Thumbs up

Grapefruit actually is not a bad fruit to eat when you are PAST induction. I occasionally have a 1/2 grapefruit (1/2 large 13.4 carbs/1.2 fiber=12.2 net carbs) with splenda and it has not negatively affected my wieght loss. The key is to eat it sparingly and count the carbs towards your daily intake. My intake is 30ish. I especially like the fact that it has all that Vitamin C which in the winter your body needs extra of . Some people actually say Grapefruit actually helps them with weight loss.

I always thought the idea behind the Grapefruit diets was it tastes so bad you end up eating very little food

Annie, I've noticed others carts for years. I've always been geared toward natural foods and am amazed when people pile their carts with chips, cookies, pre-made food etc. Can't believe my 3 daughters buy so much junk food after being raised on homemade everything.

For the past few years my carts also contain ice cream and soda etc as my DH of 3 years is a carb/sugar addict- and thinks he can't survive without potatoes at least once a day. We both have grown children and I haven't been able to entirely change his WOE. His influence has contributed to my weight gain as well as menopause and an injury that has changed my activity level. Maybe I can convert him one of these days. jeri
