Default Freaking zits

I never had acne. Actually zits in general were a very odd occurence in my life. The only real zits I got/get are from ingrown hairs from my beard(Mach 3 turbos cut so close to the skin it happens) but ever since I went on Atkins I have been getting a decent amount of zits lately. Not a load but a lot or me. I have probably four right now. Has this happened to anyone else?

I never had acne before starting Atkins. Now I'm using medically prescribed skin care to help with all the breakouts I'm getting. I've got a few more than 4 though! Also not in my favor are those darn old hormones!

While a lot of folks have really clear skin on this woe, that has not been the case for me.

Some people find that when they lose weight it really jacks their hormonal balance around for awhile. Probably because the extra hormones that get stored in fats (like the sex hormones) are suddenly being released. Usually it's us gals that complain about cyclical disturbances (there are quite a few threads here about it), but I see no reason why this can't happen to men as well.

I had to start using ProActiv (a Godsend) and I've noticed that I'm not getting any zits since I started taking Oil of Oregano. I NEVER had a problem with acne before this WOL.

Not a pimple person here either but a few months back I started getting huge nasty zits on my thighs. It was one after the other and it was painful! I mentioned it in my journal and quite a few people came forward and said the were geting those too. For me it lasted a couple of months and stopped. No zits anymore. I have a hunch it's tied to this WOE (or rather losing in general) and hormoes sound like a really good theory . . .

I am looking into getting some vitamins. I feel like crap lately too. I know its probably my own fault for neglecting all the other stuff I need for my body besides what I get from the food I eat on the atkins diet.

The first 2 months on Atkins my skin was a mess. Finally it is getting better. I never had an oily scalp till now tho. GEESH, hairloss and oily scalp. My body may be looking better but not from the neck up, lol.

I am having a few zits as well. I asked my herbalist friend about it and she said that whenever you make changes that can affect your hormones zits can pop up. She also said they usually say adios in a few weeks.

HTH!
