Default carb sensitive and when to add fruit

I wonder if anyone else has experienced this.
If I eat almost any form of carbs later in the evening I will wake up in the middle of the night hungry and blidnly heading for the fridge. This has not stalled my progress(slow but steady) but it is disconcerting. This happened to me starting last yr (exactly) way before I started lc. It is much less now in intensity but I really am trying to avoid it totally.

I am keeping carbs at between 30 and 40 since this is easy for me and they come from veggies, coconut and nuts.
My second question is:
How do you know when to add carbs (ie fruit or legumes or lc corn chips?
Should I wait til I get to goal?

I wonder if you eat carbs and protein together if this would help?

Atkins suggest you add 5 grams of carbs a week until you figure out how many you can have and still lose. I assume those would be in whatever form you'd like.

Default Adding Carbs

Atkins says you have to add carb foods in a certain order. He calls it the Carbohydrate Ladder. Did you read the book? He explains it all in the OWL chapter.

uh oh
I meant to answer this thread and instead started a new one!
I wantd to thank you both for the good info.
I do Suzanne Somers food combining (like 75%) and so didn't usuallly do carbs other than veggie carbs with protein. But maybe it is time to re examine. Before I was eating way way too many carbs and then i read her latest book and went low carb so thanks for the idea, it may be time for me to re examine fc as well.

And which Atkins book would you suggest. If it is one I have then I need to go back and re read and if not I will buy. I think I got so enthusiastic that I just stopped reading and ran for the cheese!

thanks again!
