Angry Aspartame slowed me down...

I lost 7 lbs. during my two week induction and then nothing... That was three weeks ago. I had been drinking at least 3 or 4 Diet Mtn. Dews a day. Well, I ran out of them and didn't buy any more. I got Diet Rite instead. Needless to say, I have lost six pounds in the last week and it is even that TOM. No more aspartame for me. Bye Bye Diet Mtn. Dew!!!

Here's hoping for continued success! I'm not sure, though, if what you experienced was from the Aspartame or the dreaded third week stall--maybe a little bit of both. But I'm glad things are moving in the right direction for you.

I'm hypoglycemic and really notice the difference when I have aspertame over splenda. It's a BIG difference. My blood sugar spikes bad when I do aspertame. Not to mention I get headaches as well from it.

Aspartame has been previously connected with insulin surges. It led to a counter-intuitive situation wherein diet sodas made people gain weight. They traced it to the fact that aspartame caused insulin release.

Splenda does not have this problem for me.

Ditto but too much Splenda also does this to me. I have opted to stop drinking diet soda (I was drinking 2 cans of Diet Coke a day) in hopes that my losses start up again.
