Default re-starting...

I started LC'ing in mid February and lost around 25 pounds in about 3 months, but that seemed to be my 'wall'. I stayed with it till mid November then gradually slacked off due to discouragement, upcoming holidays, all the likely excuses. I've since put back on at least half of what I lost and want to get back to LC'ing again. From some of your experiences will it be harder to restart? Besides the Dr. Atkins book (which I've read twice) is there any other good LC'ing books out there to help me out, not neccessarily new diets but tips, recipes, and other useful info? Thanks for any help you might offer.

Congratualations on getting back on the wagon. Restarting can be harder or easier - it depends on your mental outlook at the time. If I restart in a "Oh no, now I won't be able to eat any bread" sort of mindset, it tends to be more difficult. Once you get past 3 or 4 days of strict induction levels, you should be past the inertia part.
For books:
Living Low Carb by McCullough - mostly recipes but other stuff too.
Protein Power Life Plan - lots of useful info regarding supplements and such, very similar to Atkins in diet.

My favorite book for "tips" on how to tweak a low-carb diet is "Secrets to Low Carb Success" by Laura Richard. It's like a condensed version of every useful tip you'd find on a board like this.... advice from veterans in the trenches!!

I have started and re-started many times in the same year. Yes, I think it gets a little harder sometimes, but only when you've completely changed your metabolism back to old habits. The body has more changing to do once again.

That's why now, even if I blow it all out for a day or something (which I don't do anymore) I somehow don't go back to breads, pastas, etc...I still fairly maintain a LC base.

Whatever your case, just start again and be consistent. Slow and steady beats a fast failure! Hang in there, stay in touch with us!

I just wanted to mention that Dr. Atkins has a recipe book out, too. It is a nice big cookbook to assist with his plan. I've seen it at Walmart for under $20.
