Default Humous (or Humus, depending how u spell it)

Living in England sucks for ECC counts....

Loads of food labels have fibre pre-subtracted from carbs but some don't. Normally you can spot thm easily because the sugar plus the fibre usually equals more than the total carbs, therefore it must be pre-subtracted.

However...

Sometimes the sugar plus fibre doesn't equal more than the carbs and then i'm not sure what to do.

I looked at this label for some Humous and i'm not sure what the ECC is.

Can a kindly veteran label-reader take a look (below) and tell me the ECC (bear in mind that here in the UK a lot of labels are pre-subtracted)

Hi fingerz! I think the net carbs (ECC) would be total carbs minus fibre. Therefore, it would be 7.9g-3.3g=4.6g.

If I am wrong someone please correct me.

Thanks.

That was my guess too, but i'd rather not have to guess. I try to be careful not to go over 20 carbs and i want to be sure.

Is there any sure way to know which type of label this is?

I put this through the Hidden Carb Inspector under Low Carb Tools at the top of the page and it appears that the fiber has been pre-subtracted.

So the count is actually a little over 7.9 grams.

You can make your own hummous using tofu. It's actually not bad!
