Default Winter Warmer?

Can anyone help me?

I've been keen to add some kind of warming, comforting oatmeal-type breakfast alternative to my CAD diet. I'm not wanting to loose anymore weight really, just looking at maintaining.
I have tried having Keto Oatmeal occasionally, but it is definately setting off cravings - I kind of knew that it would but I thought it was worth a shot

Does anyone use that flax stuff, or any other suggestions??

Thanks
Jacquie

Hi Jacquie,
Very happy to see you! Glad you're in maintenance.

Personally, I didn't find that Flax-o-Meal very good, but a lot of people seem to like it. As far as comfort food cereals, I don't have any other suggestions. There are a lot of recipes for LC muffins around -- you can make some the night before, then reheat. It's not cereal, but it's like a muffin... and many recipes are divine!

I've been eating a grilled pork chop for breakfast during the winter -- it's warm, quick (I use my George Foreman Grill), has a comfort-food feel, and is low carb.

Good luck in your quest, and so happy you're all the way to maintenance. Can I send "newbies" to your journal for inspiration?

Hi Kitten Lady
Thanks for the reply. I think tomorrow I'm going to try one scoop of the Keto Oatmeal for breakfast instead of two and see if that still gives me cravings.

I may try the Flax o meal, and see if that is any lower in carbs. The muffins sound tempting too!!

Your chops sound good too though, but some mornings I just NEED a bowl of something warming. Know what I mean?

Please feel free to send anyone to my journal if you think it will help them.
Although, I feel that I'm still learning myself

Thanks for the tips

Jacquie

Default protein powder

The cravings issue is important re: breakfast, for sure. Perhaps try 1 or 2 tbsp ground flax and a couple tbsp of plain protein powder (I use Designer Whey - no sweeteners, less than 1g carb per scoop (which is about 4 tbsp)). Add water or cream plus water, and things like vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, stevia, etc. to that and microwave. Hey, and if you add an egg to all that (before microwaving, of course), you've got pancake mix!

hey thats a good idea on one Dr Phil show they said cinnamon and vanilla were carb craving stoppers. something about effecting seratonin or something. darn me for not listening more closely . I usually tune out when Dr Phil starts talking about the diet food part of his diet because it doesnt apply to cadders for the most part.

I use 2 T of oat bran, 4 T of flax meal, a scoop of protein powder, and some cinammon to make a cereal. I add some boiling water and stir. I also nuke the bowl for about 1 - 1 1/2 min. I use a really big bowl, so the microwaving doesn't make the mixture drip over the edge. It's quite fillingand doesn't set off cravings for me. The flax meal is very high in fiber and I believe has a net carbs of 0.
