Default PM too many characters?????

I have tried to do some PM today only to keep getting the message on the length of the PM. I know it is allowed 700 plus characters, but even if I write in the persons name and then check the length of the message it is showing that I have something like 34 characters too many. What gives, HHHHEEEELLLLPPPPPP ...Thanks joan

Joan,

Not sure what is up with that. I have moved your thread to the technical questions forum so perhaps Doreen or Wa'il can help us out with this

hi Joan,

The pm size limit is 777 characters. Keep in mind that spaces, smilies and url links are included in the count .. so a space is one character ... this rolleyes smilie counts as 10 characters, a simple smile is 2 and so forth. It adds up fast!

Also, if you're replying to a pm that someone else sent you, the quote of their message is counted too. You need to delete their quote, or just keep portions of it that you're planning to respond to.

Hope this helps,

Doreen

Doreen, thanks for the reply, I did only the space between my words, no smilies or anything like that. Even went and deleted the person PM to me and began all over just wrote in the subject box and began with her name and just for the heck of it went no further and checked the length and it showed that I was still 30 some off characters over the limit.
So could there be something else going on???joan

Hmmm ... Are you clicking on Send Message, then getting an error message that says your message is too long?

Or, are you clicking on [check message length] below the box where you type your message? That button will tell you how long your message actually is, not how much over 777 you are .. As long as the number is 777 or less, yer cookin' .. go ahead and Send, you shouldn't have any trouble.

Doreen, I have tried this both ways as you suggested and I am still getting the message that I have 67 characters too many. In fact I even went as far as just writing Doreen, your name and when I hit send reply I got ''37 CHARACTERS TOO MANY''. This has really gotten me confused. Thanks for all your help thus far..joan

Doreen, check your PM cause just as I post my last reply to you I decided I would try and send you yet another PM. According to the message thingie it went to you.
Now I am curious if it may be my server having a clich today. Thanks for your help and hope it continues to work correctly..Joan
