Hello, I am going to try again with the carbo diet... had lots of visitors in and blew it big time with pasta etc.
What do you say about drinking wine with dinner ?
Is this acceptable with this way of eating ?

Welcome aboard Fxldy! I don't think any of the low-carb diets would it's it's acceptable as part of the diet. I think Protein Power said something about the occasional glass, but not sure. Anyone remembers?

The occasional--and I stress occasional--glass is OK.

Although it's not particularly high in carbs, some LC'ers find that is makes them crave carbs in a bad way. Watch out for low alcohol tolerance with LC. I don't know why, but LC'ers can turn into really "cheap drunks".

YMMV

LOL Karen,

So true...me turned into a cheap drunk this past weekend. I found it quite amusing acutally. Usually it takes more then three drinks...heck..think of the money I'm saving...hehehe

Wendy...a bad girl, but a happy one

Hi,

My experience is that for me.... wine is the kiss of death for this WOE. It makes me want to eat more, crave sweets, and the effect of it is so strong that I do not care what I eat. I would stay away from it, except for special occasions.

Debra

Hey, so that's why a little is going a lot farther these days! I'm trying to limit my wine intake to those weekends/statutory holidays but, as I said in another post, it's HOCKEY TIME!

Been sticking with ice water and a small shot of Irish whiskey after dinner instead. Just last night DH (who is still drinking his usual 3 beers a night but trying the lo-carb thing otherwise) said hey, this whiskey tastes really sweet.

Like NumberOne sez, me cheap drunk now!

I personally can't give up the alcohol. I stick with a general rule as far as wine is concerned. If it's pink you do not drink. I also stick with whiskey (captain's, jack, Maker's, etc...) and diet coke.

Someone posted a list of alcohol and carbs. I no longer have that. Does someone out there have something like that.
